BALTIC Artists’ Book Fair – NEPN Participation

Friday 14 & Saturday 15 June 2013, 10.00-18.00pm

BALTIC Centre for Art

Gateshead

For two days only, BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art plays host to a national two-day Artists’ Book Fair.   The North East Photography Network has been invited to participate by organiser Theresa Easton and is delighted to take this opportunity to showcase the vibrancy of contemporary photography book-work.  NEPN is pleased to be partnering with Side Gallery and photographer/producer Aaron Guy to develop the event.

We are presenting high quality publications and editions, reflecting the breadth of practice in this area from handmade books, zines, newspapers, published and self-published issues, to the more traditional ‘photobook.’ Join us in our temporary photo-book lounge for the chance to see all this and more.

Drop in Sessions:
Digital Photo-book presentation, 10.30-11.30am, Cinema Space
There will be a screening presenting new forms of digital publishing at 10.30-11.30 on both days in the Cinema space.

Photography Reading Group session, Saturday 16 June, 3-4pm, Cinema Space
Join us for a discussion around traditional and new forms of photographic publishing in our temporary photo-book lounge.  All welcome.

Background
BALTIC celebrates the Festival of the North East and becomes a market place of exhibiting bookstalls and interactive exhibitions of artists’ book-work. There are opportunities to meet the artists, have a go at bookmaking, purchase and collect affordable artwork. The Festival of the North East is a month long celebration of the region’s creativity and innovation, jam packed with over 200 events happening in every part of England’s North East during June 2013.
