Northern Bound: a collection of handmade printed books now on show at BALTIC Level 2 Quay Space along with Book Apothecary  presenting  Archive, a site specific installation by Dawn Felicia Knox which explores the taxonomies found within the current collection of artists’ books.

Working alongside printmaker and book artist Theresa Easton, participants explore the art of bookmaking using printmaking techniques and themes close to home such as identity, learning between generations, social history and storytelling. The exhibition is part of Fabulous Books, Fantastic Places: BALTIC Artist’s Book Fair  celebrating the Festival of the North East, marking the temporary return to the region of the Lindisfarne Gospels.

Exhibitors include, Tyneside Women’s Health, Greenfield Community & Arts Centre, The North Tyneside Intergenerational Volunteer Project & pupils from Richardson Dees Primary  School Wallsend and Hartlepool Borough Council Culture & Information and Youth Services

BALTIC Artist’s Book Fair

14 – 15 June 2013 / 10.00-18.00 / FREE

This two day event at BALTIC will show case artist’s books from national and regional artists, with opportunities to purchase artwork and take part in hands on book-making activities.

BALTIC celebrates the Festival of the North East and becomes a market place of exhibiting book stalls, with opportunities to have a go at bookmaking and experience some Bibliotherapy Artist’s Book Library (BABL) from Lucy May Schofield, in a travelling wooden mobile library.

Also on display is The Sunderland Book Project offering visitors the chance to explore the city through the medium of artist’s books, North East Photography Network presenting photographic books, Book Apothecary, a travelling museum of book art encased in suitcases, contemporary book art from Beijing  and sculpted book work from Cleveland College of Art.
